DIXIE CHICKS....... WHAT??

OK. This is NOT a put down of the Chicks. I, as a matter of fact, enjoy their music and their sound. After all, very few really good-looking girls can pick the BANJER! Their latest moves do have me a bit puzzled though, and I am just trying to understand where they are coming from!

OK. They should not have dissed the president on foreign soil during wartime.

THERE….. I said it. Old News. I am a conservative Republican and that upset me, along with a ka-jillion other people, however my little commentary is NOT about politics.

Hey, they did apologize. However, as their new album and tour begin, they have made it very clear to all who will listen that they should NOT have apologized for their outburst in London. They are shouting from the rooftops that they still believe that Bush is a disaster and that they do not like him at all.

Typical of Liberals to keep complaining when they have no real answers to the problems that are pressing America today. Sorry, but the thought of a President Kerry or Gore or HILARY — or even a Speaker Pelosi — gives me the creeps and frightens me to death. BUT… I would NEVER take that to the stage or a press conference.

Again, this commentary is not about politics. This is a free country. The CHICKS are free to say whatever they want. I tip my hat to freedom of speech. I just wonder from a CHICK career standpoint why they keep blurting things out that would make a lot of folks, well..... MAD!

Let us explore the Lubbock ,Texas controversy.

The song lyrics co-written by Manes herself claims that Lubbock hated Buddy

Holly and built a statue of him in spite of it. These lyrics managed to upset the whole town as well as the family of Buddy Holly, who made it clear that, although many didn’t care for Rock ‘n Roll at the time, everybody loved Buddy Holly.

The Chick response: ‘This song was not a slam at Lubbock but at every hypocritical small town in America.’

Brilliant! Let’s tee ‘em ALL off.

And how about those pearls that keep falling from the lips of Natalie Manes.

‘It would be okay with us if we had a small following of people with intelligence instead of those who have a five-CD changer in their car and listen to Reba

McEntire!’

‘We don’t want any fans who like Toby Keith either. We do not like those kind of people!’

WHAT?

Again, I am trying here, Girls. Trying to give you the benefit of the doubt. However, it would seem that every time you turn around you are stepping in it.

You are not that important. You are a trio who can pick and sing. Maybe you should consider doing that!!

I am just not sure who is doing your public relations for this new project and tour but surely they must be pulling their hair out.

I guess I am old school. Do whatever it takes to NOT upset everyone in your circumference of being. Sing songs and smile and enjoy the ride. Then go home and pet your cats. It CAN be that simple.

I must admit, Girls, I am just not sure what planet you are coming from. I guess I am not intelligent enough to be in your crowd. You are just too HIP for me! I happen to love REBA and TOBY, and every small town in America as well.

So I guess I will skip this new Chick CD. I sure did like the last one though. And I do love to see that one girl pick the Banjer.….
